I just got back from the cottage, and while the weather wasn’t perfect I was still slathering on some Hawaiian Tropic to make sure I didn’t get any burns from the sun. You may remember that a little while back I had a rate + review giveaway so that some of my readers could give the products a try, and the reviews are now in! Read on to see what others had to say about the Silk Hydration Sunscreen Lotion and After Sun Moisturizer. Please note, reviews have not been edited in any way and are the opinions of my readers.
“I love the sunscreen! I am very fair and must wear sunscreen. It works well, non greasy and smells great. The after sun lotion is great too since my skin gets so dried out from the sun. Price point is good, very affordable. I would definitely purchase it again. My only issues is I would like a spray for the hard to reach areas. I tend to burn in those areas (back, shoulders) for that very reason – I can’t reach or it is difficult to reach so I end up not reapplying and pay the price. However when that does happen the after sun lotion is awesome. Soothing and moisturizing.” – Cathy C.

I found it went on nice and smooth and did not leave my skin feeling sticky or greasy. I used the after sun care and was amazed just how easy it went on and soaked into my sadly dry skin. “Both products are very pretty with the alternating ribbons of coloured lotion. Makes it more enjoyable for me to use than typical white SPF products.
I found the sunscreen to have a very mild fragrance, a bit chemical but 100% better than any other sunscreen I’ve tried. The lotion absorbed quickly with no greasy or tacky feel. I loved how moisturized my skin felt even hours later. And as expected – no sunburn after exposure 🙂 My one (BIG) concern though is the ingredients list Propylparaben. Parabens in products have been getting negative health warning lately. Im just starting to think of avoiding certain product ingredients, so I’m on the fence with this right now.
The After sun lotion has a stronger, pleasant, fresh scent. Again the lotion absorbed quickly with no greasy residue. I love the list of seed butters and juice extracts in the ingredient list and think I would like this lotion for everyday use year round!” – Lisa H.

I want to start off by saying I was really excited to try these products. I have very sensitive skin, and have a hard time finding sunscreen that works for me.
First thing I noticed was the smell. I love it. It’s a light, pleasing, beachy scent. Not the heavy coconut smells I’m used to with sunscreen.
It’s also very light, which makes it easy to put on and spread across my face, arms, legs, etc. No more spending 10 minutes just trying to rub my sunscreen in, trying to get it to finally absorb! Quite a time saver! I was also very pleased that unlike most sunscreens, I didn’t find it left my hands oily. Definite plus!!
Now all of that out of the way, the real test… spending the day at the zoo. Normally, no matter how much sunscreen I apply, I still end up with a burn. Darn Irish skin! lol.
Spending ALL DAY… from 10am until 8pm outside… NO BURN!! I was amazed and incredibly happy! I’ve been using it daily since, and I am so thrilled to report that this is the first summer I have not come home miserable and in pain from a sunburn! Makes for a much more enjoyable Summer!!
Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration After Sun Moisturizer

I love this product! On top of sensitive skin, I tend to have dry skin… especially in the Summer! I’ve been using this daily after I shower, and I have noticed a big improvement, especially in very sensitive areas such as the elbows & knees. Fortunately I haven’t had to use this product because of a Sunburn, because using Hawaiian Tropic SPF has taken care of that problem! I have incorporated the After Sun into my regular daily routine to keep my skin nice, smooth and Summer ready!

“I love that the sunscreen lotion is a SPF 30 which gives great protection and that it moisturizes for 12 hours is a great feature as skin definitely can use it, being that the sun dehydrates the skin.The smell is ‘beach’ and I love that! It is light, non-greasy and absorbed quickly. And being waterproof is definitely an advantage. It is a sunscreen that I would definitely purchase and would recommend to friends. And being Hawaiian Tropic, you know it’s a name you can trust!
The After Sun Moisturizer is such a great idea! Love the smell as well, has a bit more of a kick to it than the sunscreen. The fact it has aloe gel for soothing affect is wonderful. It moisturizers for 24h which is absolutely amazing. Again, light, non-greasy, easily absorbing makes it great. I don’t think I’ve ever had a duo or even have known of one when it comes to sunscreen. “I really liked both products. They were a lot less goopier and runnier than previous HT lotions. I love the smell of them, always reminds me of summer and i loved how quickly they absorbed on my skin. My skin felt nice and smooth the rest of the day. “Hawaiian Tropic Sunscreen Lotion: I was pleasantly surprised when I applied the sunscreen. The sunscreen is: lightly scented (not overpowering or anything) with a fruity scent, it absorbs fairly quickly, does not leave behind any greasy residues, moisturizes for 12+ hours as claimed, works well under my makeup and feels so natural that I pretty much forgot I have sunscreen on. In terms of being waterproof, it appears to be fairly waterproof (considering all the washing I do), but I cannot verify the sunscreen to it’s full potential as I haven’t tried going swimming with this sunscreen on to know for sure how waterproof it is. My only concern is that when I apply the sunscreen on my face I get this mildly painful stinging sensation (it only happens on my face), but it doesn’t cause any redness or break outs. This happened every time that I apply it to my face, I guess my skin is sensitive to something in the sunscreen. Overall, the sunscreen is a major plus in my books in terms of being light, non-greasy and wonderfully scented, as long as I don’t apply it to my face anymore.Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Moisturizer: I more or less use this after sun moisturizer as a lotion after showering. The scent (mango and shea butter) is slightly stronger than the sunscreen, but still very pleasant. Wow! I am like super impressed. I knew there was aloe (hence the gel like consistency) in it but I didn’t realize how refreshing, cooling and fast absorbing it was. When I applied the moisturizer it instantly absorbed into my skin and locking all the moisture in for pretty much 24 hours. Nothing like cooling off after a hot shower. Similar to the sunscreen lotion, my face experienced a slight stinging sensation the first 2 times that I applied it, although it didn’t appear to be as intense the 3rd time around, but as a precaution I am no longer applying it to my face. I am really tempted to use this as my regular lotion instead of my usual brands. Overall, this moisturizer is definitely worth checking out if you want to enjoy a refreshing way to cool down and maintain moisture to your skin without greasiness. ” – Melinda L.
“I just love the Hawaiin tropic silk hydration suntan lotion and aftersun moisturizer. This is the first suntan lotion that I have used that is not greasy when applied. Ive had family and friends ask me what lotion I was wearing because of the wonderful tropical scent! After a week of trying out the silk hydration suntan lotion, not one of my family members had any sign of a sunburn. The aftersun moisturizer leaves you feeling fresh after a day in the sun and kept my skin soft and smooth. “I received the Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Sunscreen and After sun moisturizer to test, and it came in perfect time as we have had a mini heat wave going on this week. As someone who is very fair, I rely heavily on sunscreen to make sure that I don’t burn and I am pleased to say that the Hawaiian Tropic Silk not only kept my skin my natural fair shade (which is hugely important to me), but it kept my skin nice and soft as well, not all dried out, and not at all oily like some sunscreens. The after sun care was nice, and I like that its not too heavily scented, and these products didn’t have the same “sunscreen” coconut type scent that so many products have. I received these products in the mail this morning and decided it would be a great afternoon to go down to the beach and look for sea glass. I was pretty covered up, but the back of my shoulders, neck, face and legs were exposed.
My first impression of the Silk Hydration Sunscreen Lotion was the fragrance! It was beautiful and reminded me of being in the tropics. It was a lovely floral/coconutty scent, not too strong. The Silk Hydration Sunscreen Lotion had a smooth texture, it wasn’t sticky, or gummy and went on my skin very smoothly. My skin drank it up almost immediately! After an afternoon of hunting for sea glass I had my husband put the Silk Hydration After Sun Moisturizer on my shoulders and neck! Omgosh, it felt immediately cooler and really toned down the heat of my skin! It went on super smoothly and glided effortlessly when applying. The scent of this product was a bit too strong for me. I love the scent, but if it were just a tad toned down I would have loved it more! My hands weren’t sticky or greasy after applying either of these products.
