WCMFW FW 14 Recap: Best of Nails with Essie

We’ve already talked about the Beauty and Hair trends for Fall/Winter 2014 at WMCFW, so now it’s time to move onto another area that I love – Nails!  The Essie team and lead artist Rita Remark (the nail goddess) were backstage to make sure the models’ nails matched the designers visions.  I even had a chance to meet up with them before the shows started to learn how to recreate the “ombre illusion” look seen at the Line Knitwear show.  I’ve taken a few of my favourite looks from the week to show you.  What do you think of them?

The idea of an illusion/reverse ombre was the inspiration for the look at Line Knitwear, using shades Essie Sand Tropez & Bobbing for Baubles.  I learned how to easily recreate this look using cosmetics sponges and the shades Essie Big SpenderFrench Affair.  Would you like to see a tutorial on how to create this look?

Simple and chic, Rita and her team taped off a small triangle section at the base of the nail before applying Essie Shore Thing.

And last but not least, one of my absolute favourite nail looks of the week.  Rita is the queen of the negative space mani and I’m so obsessed with this gold take on it she created for the Rudsak show using Essie Good As Gold. I’ve got the steps below for you to check out!

Step 1: Apply a thin coat of essie’s ‘ridge filling base coat’ and let dry. Place half of a paper reinforcement sticker on the cuticle as a guide for the half moon, pressing down to secure.
Step 2: With essie’s ‘good as gold’, fill in the half moon. Once each nail is polished, remove stickers.
Step 3: With a striping brush dipped in ‘good as gold’ draw a french tip on each nail.
Step 4: Finish the look with a coat of ‘good to go’ topcoat.

Will you try recreating any of these looks at home?
